An ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor's degree in the arts or teaching, five years' experience in the field of teaching, some administrative experience, a knack for marketing and a willingness to learn about promotion, fantastic teaching skills, passion for the arts, a gentle yet structured approach to working with 3-5 year olds and kindergarteners, a familiarity with Reggio Amelia's approach to arts-centered education and a willingness to commit to building the best preschool in the area. Job Description – Director/Lead Teacher Bellingham Preschool of the Arts
The Preschool Director is responsible to the owner for the promotion and operation of the Bellingham Preschool of the Arts and the After School Enrichment Program.
The Preschool Director/Lead Teacher is the key person involved in having a successful, vibrant and full school!
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Has a great vision for what the school can be, and knows how to make it happen!
2. Maintain records pertaining to the operation of the preschool.
3. Offer suggestions regarding policies and procedures of the preschool.
4. Creates educational goals and shares with owner for feedback
5. Prepares monthly reports showing enrollment/cost/profit (not hard to do).
6. Prepare annual calendar.
7. Supervise classroom schedules.
8. Plan and teach daily lessons
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Submits budget requests for Annual Preschool/After School Enrichment needs to owner
2. Manages petty cash.
STAFF:
1. Outline job descriptions
2. Recruit applicants to fill staff and substitute vacancies and present to owner for approval
3. Conduct regular staff meetings.
4. Creates a staff handbook with the help of the owner. 5. Keep personnel records.
ENROLLMENT:
1. Creates events that help bring students to the school
2. Shows potential students and their families what we offer.
3. Tracks visits and does follow up calls.
PARENTS:
1. Seeks to maintain good communication with parents.
2. Seeks to involve parents, creating a happy community of families.
HEALTH:
1. Keep health history records and emergency cards contact info.
SAFETY:
1. Keep current on school’s legal responsibilities and liabilities.
2. Plan for and conduct fire and earthquake drills.
PROMOTION/RECRUITMENT
1. Meet with marketing director and owner on a regular basis to grow our enrollment.
2. Helps think of ways we can make the school better and bring more people in.
